A National Seminar on Nuclear Medicine in Diagnosis and Disease Management, sponsored by AERB and GUJCOST is organized by L. M. College of Pharmacy on 9th February, 2019
ABOUT THE SEMINAR :
Nuclear medicine is a specialized field of medicine concerned with the application of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnosis or therapeutic purposes. Over 40 million nuclear medicine procedures are performed each year, and the demand for radioisotopes is increasing at rate up to 5% annually. This field has made rapid progress since 1950. Nuclear medicine along with radiology encompass a variety of techniques involving radiation or radioactivity for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. About 50 radio pharmaceuticals are commonly used for administration. The development of more effective radiopharmaceuticals is being intensively investigated and is likely to make rapid strides in the coming decades. A number of clinical tests employ radioactive reagents; Radio Immuno Assay (RIA) being one such technique.
The Seminar will provide insights into the various applications of radiopharmaceuticals through the erudite talks by experts from various parts of the country.
