To encourage innovative thinking amongst students pursuing their Masters & Doctorate and their Research Guide, Rajnibhai V. Patel Trust instituted PharmInnova Award at the academic level of Pharmaceutical Sciences in India. The Award Distribution Ceremony 2016-17 & 2017-18 was organized on 15th September, 2018 under the patronage of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and sponsored by Troikaa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. L. M. College of Pharmacy was also the co-ordinator for this event.
The chief guest for the event was Infosys founder, NR Narayana Murthy while Mamta Verma, Industries commissioner, Government of Gujarat was the guest of honor.
Dr. Anita A. Mehta (Head of Deaprtment, Pharmacology) received two awards as a Best Research Guide in the category for Best Thesis of Ph.D in Pharmacology of student, Mr. Kiranj Chaudagar and Best Thesis in M. Pharm, Pharmacology of student, Mr. Vikas Khuman for the year 2016-17.
Dr. Mamta Shah (Head of Deaprtment, Pharmacognosy) also received award as Best Research Guide in category for Best Thesis in M. Pharm, Pharmacognosy of student, Ms. Tejal Patel.
As a prize, student was awarded with a cash prize of 51,000 Rs. along with a trophy whereas the guide was awarded a cash prize of 25,000 Rs.
The Awards were distributed by Mr. Narayana Murthy and Mrs. Mamta Verma. They also interacted with the innovators and professionals during ‘PharmInnova Awards’. Murthy advised young professionals not to lose hope and believe in oneself. Mrs. Verma called upon the innovators to focus on innovation and conveyed that the government is ready to help them.
