Two Days Refresher Course sponsored by Gujarat State Pharmacy Council was organized by L. M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad on 24th-25th March 2018.
ABOUT GSPC :
The Gujarat State Pharmacy Council (GSPC) was established in September, 1964, to play a catalytic role in promoting the field of Pharmaceuticals and to protect the rights of registered pharmacist. The Council was constituted with a view to develop the ethical rights of Pharmacist and to give approval of various projects and courses mentioned by PCI, New Delhi.
OBJECTIVE :
The objective of this two days Refresher course sponsored by Gujarat State Pharmacy Council is to upgrade the professional knowledge of pharmacy professionals i.e. Hospital pharmacists, community pharmacists, Pharmacist with medicines business, academicians and all registered pharmacists. This workshop enriched participants with the knowledge of the role of pharmacists in responsible use of medicines. Focus was given to proper use of medicines to save lives, restoring health, prevention of diseases and toxicity, role of pharmacists, patient counselling, drug-drug and drug–food interactions and patent laws.
Around 200 people had registered for this Refresher Course.
On the first day i.e 24th March, 2018 (Saturday) lectures were delivered by the faculty members on varied topics-
1. Dr. Mahesh Chhabria (“Patient Counselling on Antitubercular Drugs”)
2. Dr. Beenkumar Prajapati (“Drug Interactions”)
3. Mr. Tejas Dhameliya (“Drug Discovery and Development”)
4. Dr. Mustakim Mansuri (“Clinical Pharmacy”)
For the Inauguration Ceremony Chief Guests: Mr. V. R. Shah (Deputy Commissioner, FDCA, Gandhinagar), Dr. M. T. Chhabria, Dr. Praful Bharadiya and Dr. Manish Patel graced the dais.
However the highlight of the day was a brief lecture by Dr. B. Suresh (President, Pharmacy Council of India) who was invited at LMCP during the refresher course. He shared his views on the course and acknowledged participants regarding the initiatives taken by PCI. He interacted with the participants – D.Pharm, M.Pharm and Pharm D students.
Then came the Day 2 – 25th March, 2018 (Sunday). Various lectures delivered were-
1. Dr. Dharmistha Parmar (“Evaluation of Drug Food Interactions”)
2. Dr. Radhika Pandya (“Basics of Patent Laws”)
3. Dr. Praful D. Bharadia (“Drugs for Special Patient Populations”)
A short Objective Test was also conducted followed by the Valedictory Function.
In Valedictory Function,
Chief Guest: Dr. C. N. Patel (Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, GTU and Principal of Shri Sarvajanik Pharmacy College, Mehsana)
Guest of Honor: Mr. Gilbert C. Macwan (Registrar, Gujarat State Pharmacy Council) were invited and they also talked regarding pharmacy profession.
