The Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, L. M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad had organised a National Seminar sponsored by GUJCOST on 17th March, 2018 at GIDC Bhavan in Ahmedabad Education Campus. The subject of the seminar was “Excipient Variability and it’s impact on Dosage Form Functionality”. The event was organised for the entire day from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm where in the morning distinguished experts in the field such as Dr. Mukesh Gohel (PG Director, Anand College of Pharmacy), Dr. Dushyant Shah (Ex-Principal, APMC College of Pharmaceutical research and Education, Himmatnagar), Dr. Mihir Raval (Dean, HOD Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Saurashtra University) and Dr. Bipin Patel (Assistant General Manager F&D, Intas Pharmaceuticals, Ahmedabad) spoke on a variety of modern and resourceful topics such as co-processed excipients, biodegradable polymers, co-crystal formation techniques for drugs and selection and use of proper excipients to solve problems in manufacturing of tablets and other modern dosage forms in industries respectively.
The program began with a devotional prayer to Devi Saraswati and lamp lighting by faculties and guests. Then the convener of the program and Principal Dr. Mahesh T. Chabbria welcomed all the guest speakers and delegates. Dr. Yamini D. Shah (Co-ordinator of the program) introduced and explained the need of the topic of the seminar.
Dr. M. C. Gohel stressed upon bringing awareness to pharmacy professional on such recent topics.
Around hundred participants along with an International Student all over Gujarat and Maharashtra took part in the seminar. The lectures were very well appreciated by post-graduate students, Ph.D research scholars, faculties and industry personnel alike.
In the afternoon session after lunch, poster presentation was held. Approximately thirty-five PG students, Ph.D research students and young faculties presented their research and review in the form of posters. A panel of judges comprising of Dr. Mihir Raval and Dr. Bipin Patel examined their work and announced first, second and third winners in the competition.
1st Prize – Ms. Neha Shah (Nirma Institute of Pharmacy)
2nd Prize – Ms. Juhi Patel (Sat Kaival College of Pharmacy)
3rd Prize – Ms. Pahini Shah (L.M. College of Pharmacy)
Three prizes were distributed by them in order to encourage more such work from students of Pharmacy colleges around state. They expressed their satisfaction and showed how to improve further. Afternoon session was concluded by a high-tea. Certificates were distributed to delegates and poster presenters.
The whole seminar was successfully managed by Dr. Mahesh Chhabria ( Convener) and Dr. Yamini Shah ( Coordinator).
